Help Needed to Increase Request Limit and Resolve Daily Quota Issue with OpenCellID API

Hello OpenCellID Community,

We are currently working on integrating the OpenCellID API (specifically the http://opencellid.org/cell/getInArea endpoint) into our mobile application, which retrieves details of cell towers in specific areas. We’re finding this API highly useful for our functionality, but we’ve encountered two main issues related to the request limits:

  1. Request Limit of 5,000 Per Day: We’ve encountered a 5,000-request-per-day limit, which is not sufficient for our anticipated user base. Our use case involves high-frequency queries from multiple users, so ideally, we need an option for unlimited daily requests. Could anyone provide guidance on how to upgrade our daily request quota? We’d also appreciate information on pricing or subscription plans for higher usage tiers.

  2. Premature Limit Reached: Additionally, we’ve noticed that, even with fewer than 5,000 requests, we receive an error indicating that the request limit has been reached after only 20-50 requests. This issue occurs consistently and has disrupted our ability to test the integration fully. If others have encountered this, or if there’s guidance on addressing this error, we would appreciate any insights.

Our application will have many simultaneous users, so increasing the request limit and ensuring stable access is essential. Any advice on how to proceed or relevant contacts for higher-usage tiers would be immensely helpful.

I’ve attempted to reach support directly, but I have not yet received a response. Any insights or assistance from the community support would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hello User,
Based on your requirements, I believe @Sagar would be able to assist, as he specializes in support for specific requests and requirements

We don’t support custom tiers today, especially on the getInArea endpoint. We’re working on custom tiers and expect to share more in December / Jan.

Are you guys working on getInArea endpoint too??
